International seminar

In Tirana, on April 26, 2017 will take place an international seminar, in which will participate publishers, EU experts (from Italy, Portugal, Greece, Croatia), representatives of public and private institutions, cultural and educational ones, teachers, bookshops, readers, journalists, etc. The seminar will be a good opportunity for exchange of experiences and improving professional cooperation, peer learning, but also for the better training of book operators. In this seminar, among others issues, will be discussed and compared even the data derived from the survey in the three countries.

  • Do children read? Do they read a lot, very little, or not at all? Do they read more than the adults? What nonschool books do they read? What non-school books do they like? Usually to these questions people tend to respond based on their personal experiences. A teacher tells for her/his students that “they can barely read school books”, a young person responds “yes, we read, but we rarely discuss/talk about books with friends”, a parent speaks about the children by saying “we try and buy all the books, but now they are being confused by the tablet and mobiles”. While when a publisher is asked, usually their response depends on book sales (which is of course an indication), which are always falling....

  • International Seminar Children's literature and its readers: New strategies to encourage and promote reading, is part of the project "Readers of the Future", drafted by three partners, Publishing House DITURIA (Albania), Publishing House Tabernakul (Macedonia), and L’Associazione Agenzia Arcipelago Onlus (Italy), which aims to encourage children and youths toward literature, by strengthening the strong reader and influencing the "weak" reader, to support authors, publishers, artists for new creations, publications, and promotions, to give schools, pupils and cultural sector the possibility to work closely together, to encourage new talents, etc. In the seminar participate publishers, foreign experts, representatives of public and private institutions, specialists of culture and education, teachers, booksellers, readers, journalists, etc. The seminar is conceived as an opportunity for sharing experiences and reflecting together, to build and improve professional co-operation among peers, but also for better training of book operators, giving a new impetus to the enrichment of children's "bookstore" in Albania, and the promotion of love for the book. After the survey conducted in many schools in the country on reading habits, as well as the national competition in literature and painting, this seminar aims to present as well the conclusions of these activities, and to reflect on the results of the survey....
